Thank you for visiting! Established in 1998 with our first litter, Leizel's Weasels (LW) is a small-scale ferretry that is run from my home and produces a limited number of kits each year. All ferrets from LW are high quality pets with the potential to be champions. Leizel's Weasels has had numerous Best In Show winners and JBF’s Isabella of LW was awarded the American Ferret Association’s (AFA) highest honor-FERRET OF THE YEAR! Leizel's Weasels strives to provide solid conformations and personable temperaments. All kits are hand raised with lots of love and attention. All kits are sold intact and the new owner takes responsibility to have the kit spayed or neutered when matured (between 6-9 months of age). All kits come with a one year genetic health guarantee. If a genetic death arises, it is the new owner’s responsibility to provide proof from a licensed veterinarian determining a genetic cause of death. Once proof is received by LW, either a partial or full refund will be given of the purchase price for the kit or the new owner may require another kit at the next available litter. However, if a partial or full refund is issued, a kit will not be replaced free of charge in addition to the refund. Kits are placed between 10-12 weeks of age or unless otherwise determined by Leizel's Weasels. LW ferrets will not be shipped under any circumstance! A ferret can be picked up at an AFA show that I am attending or by coming to my ferretry. Other travel arrangements may also be made.

Because many people do rush into ferret ownership, LW wants to make sure that the decision you have made is the right one, both for you and for the ferret! You have made a great choice in deciding to purchase a ferret from Leizel's Weasels. Buying from a small, private breeder means that you are part of an extended family. LW expects a call if the ferret has a crisis at any stage in its life, so that they can help you understand and cope with the problem. Leizel's Weasels feels that while the kits must venture on, they never really leave home. This can be especially comforting for the first-time ferret owner who can’t even imagine what kinds of questions they’ll have in the future. This can also be true for experienced ferret owners, who might have questions on situations that they have not yet experienced. Come what may, the conscientious and caring breeder will be there!

Another good reason to buy a kit from a small, private breeder is that it gives you the opportunity to interact with the kit’s dam (mother) and possibly the sire (father), along with other family members (where available). Therefore, you can form a general impression of what the future holds for the kit you take home. In addition, if the new owner wishes to see the kit (before 10-12 weeks of age) and its development, special arrangements may be made. A small, private breeder is your best source for a well-bred, healthy ferret. Leizel's Weasels carefully selects the parents of each litter to emphasize desirable attributes and minimize faults in their progeny. LW is committed to improving breed soundness (physical and mental health) with every new generation. Leizel's Weasels strictly believes in the AFA BREED STANDARD and works closely with other experienced, responsible breeders to ensure ongoing ferret education and knowledge.
